From 1 October 2024, an important new regulation will come into force for winter tyres. The previously commonly used "M+S" (mud and snow) tyre will no longer be officially considered a winter tyre. Only tyres with the "3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake" (3PMSF) symbol on the sidewall will now be permitted. This mainly concerns old winter tyres and all-season tyres that only bear the "M+S" symbol. Therefore, check the tyres of customers in storage and inform them of this new regulation. This is particularly important for tyres produced before 31 December 2017. For these, the transitional period ended in September 2024. From October, these tyres may no longer be used as winter tyres. Inform your customers: driving with non-compliant tyres in winter carries risks and can result in a fine. Although there is no general obligation to use winter tyres in Switzerland, the driver must always be able to control his vehicle safely. Driving with non-compliant summer tyres or "M+S" tyres in winter conditions not only endangers safety, but also exposes you to high costs and claims in the event of an accident.
